Join the Friends of the Kalderimi and help preserve the natural beauty and cultural heritage of South Pelion. Subscriptions (currently €10) must be paid annually and may be paid to the following:
Liz Avramides (Argalasti area and on most walks)
Pelion Products - Ute Beyer (Argalasti, near the central crossroads)
Chris & Kathryn Wicks (Platania area and on most walks)
Yannis Iatrou (Neochori)
Kyriakos Stathkakis (Volos)
Mandi Mathews (on most walks)
Please email us if you wish to arrange to pay your subscription through one of these people.
Subscriptions may also be paid through the society’s bank account. However, this is not our preferred choice because the bank charges a commission of 3.50 euros which we need to ask you to cover.
Also the bank is often unable to give us details of the person depositing the payment. If you do choose to make your payment through the bank, we ask you to inform the Treasurer by email so that it may be entered into the membership record.
Details of our bank account may be found here.
If you are a new member, please click here to download and fill in the Membership Application Form.
Several local business and individuals offer services and discounts to members of the Friends of the Kalderimi of South Pelion and these are listed here.

Please make sure you have your membership card with you when you ask for discount.
We recommend you use a good map - we use the Anavasi maps.
Our original inspiration came from Nikos Haratsis' book "A hiker's guide to Mount Pelion: routes on cobbled lanes and paths on the Centaurs' mountain" published in Greek and English by Epikoinonia in Volos in 1995 (ISBN: 9789608446045), and still available to buy from some bookshops and stationers in Volos.
Detailed route information that includes almost all of our signed walks and many others are included at Walking Pilion and Pilion Walks. Both of these sites include GPS data, detailed maps and descriptions, duration, and much interesting and practical information about the route and both are updated and maintained regularly.
We encourage other local groups interested in walking, maintaining the paths and promoting their use to contact us to arrange joint activities and projects.
In collaboration with the local cultural associations of several villages, we have produced or initiated the preparation of poster boards for each village (currently on display in Horto, Argalasti, Platanias and Lafkos) giving local information and history, and showing a map of the area with walking paths marked.
To date we have collaborated with associations from the villages of Lafkos, Horto, Argalasti, Trikeri, Tsangarada and Agios Georgios in addition to other walking groups.
This mobile telephone is switched on and available ONLY on organised walks or at some other events.
Please keep a record of it on your mobile phone in case you need to contact someone during a walk or event.
If you need to make contact with any member of the committee at any other time, please email them direct (email addresses here)
or email email@example.com and we will get back to you as soon as practicable.
If you take part in a Friends of the Kalderimi walk or event you do so entirely at your own risk and neither the Friends of the Kalderimi
nor the organisers or leaders of the walk or event are in any way responsible for the safety of those taking part.
