We recommend you use a good map - we use the Anavasi maps.
Our original inspiration came from Nikos Haratsis' book "A hiker's guide to Mount Pelion: routes on cobbled lanes and paths on the Centaurs' mountain" published in Greek and English by Epikoinonia in Volos in 1995 (ISBN: 9789608446045), and still available to buy from some bookshops and stationers in Volos.
Detailed route information that includes almost all of our signed walks and many others are included at Walking Pilion and Pilion Walks. Both of these sites include GPS data, detailed maps and descriptions, duration, and much interesting and practical information about the route and both are updated and maintained regularly.
We encourage other local groups interested in walking, maintaining the paths and promoting their use to contact us to arrange joint activities and projects.
In collaboration with the local cultural associations of several villages, we have produced or initiated the preparation of poster boards for each village (currently on display in Horto, Argalasti, Platanias and Lafkos) giving local information and history, and showing a map of the area with walking paths marked.
To date we have collaborated with associations from the villages of Lafkos, Horto, Argalasti, Trikeri, Tsangarada and Agios Georgios in addition to other walking groups.
